On one blazing hot day, he met Ojo, the rescue dog
A Mexican man, who nurtured a stray and scared dog into a trusting, loving animal, has documented his heartwarming success story.
Things did not start off too well when the dog bit the man hard, but that did not stop him in his quest to win the animal’s heart.
Eventually, his efforts eventually paid off, and his success shows his selfless perseverance was the key.
Jorge Rafael Jaime Martinez, 46, lives in the city of Nuevo Laredo in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas.
On one blazing hot day, he met Ojo, the rescue dog.
Speaking with The Epoch Times, Martinez said he found Ojo in an abandoned house.
“I think her reaction—biting me—may owe to the fact that Ojo was mistreated and beaten,” he said.
“I think she was defensive because of that.”
Martinez was bitten on his upper left arm, which caused deep injury, and he had to see a doctor.
But he was undeterred.
He went straight back to an abandoned house to feed Ojo and take her to a veterinarian.
He committed to bringing her food and water every day.
Eventually, trust and an unbreakable bond were created.
Martinez shared their journey in a Twitter post.
“She bit me; I paid her with love,” he wrote.
“They are not bad, only sometimes on the streets they have to fight for their life.”
“She is pure love, even though she bites hard,” he added in another post, along with a heartwarming video of Ojo running to bestow kisses and receive cuddles from her guardian angel, her tail wagging.
Martinez has now found a safe place for Ojo to live.
“Now, she is no longer aggressive,” Martinez told The Epoch Times.
“On the contrary, she only gives love; she sees me and runs to hug me.”
“If you like animals, any type of pet that you take care of, never abandon them,” he said.
