Only lived for 12 minutes after waking up screaming during the service
A supposedly-dead woman has died from shock after waking up inside a coffin in the middle of her own funeral.
49-year-old Fagilyu Mukhametzyanov of Kazan, Russia, interrupted the service as she was being prepared for burial when she woke up screaming.
Mourners gathered around her coffin, “praying for her soul” as she screamed in a fit of panic inside the funerary box when she realized where she was.
She was immediately rushed to a hospital but died on the way there after suffering a severe heart attack that was brought on by the trauma of her ordeal.
She was declared dead on arrival, this time for good.
Mrs. Mukhametzyanov had been wrongly declared deceased by doctors but died for real after she heard mourners saying prayers for her soul to be taken up to heaven.
Some of the well-wishers who were praying when she awoke passed out from shock when the supposed corpse began to stir.
Her devastated husband Fagili, 51, had been told his wife had died of a heart attack after she’d collapsed at home suffering from chest pains.
Mr. Mukhametzyanov says he used up all of their savings to pay for his wife’s first funeral and now has no idea of how he will pay for a second.
Mr. Mukhametzyanov said he couldn’t believe it was really happening when he heard the “blood-curdling screams” coming from inside the coffin.
He said friends and family gathered around and looked in her burial box, adding:
“Her eyes fluttered and we immediately rushed her back to the hospital but she only lived for another 12 minutes in intensive care before she died again, this time for good.”
“I am very angry and want answers,” said Mr. Mukhametzyanov.
“She wasn’t dead when they said she was and they could have saved her.”
Hospital spokesman Minsalih Sahapov said: “We are carrying out an investigation.”
