Former Vice President thrown off guard by disruption
Former Vice President Joe Biden‘s Detroit rally on Monday descended into brief chaos after it was disrupted by multiple protestors.
During Biden’s speech, a man in a baseball cap and flannel shirt displayed a flag criticizing the North America Free Trade Agreement, a deal the former Vice President supported.
Biden fans attempted to drown the protester’s chants during the rally.
“That’s all right. Let him go,” Biden told the crowd.
“This is not a Trump rally,” he stated.
The man was then escorted out of Renaissance High School by security.
“I’m not worried about it,” Biden insisted.
“It’s just a reflection of what’s wrong with American politics today. … This is one of the things that Donald Trump has generated,” he added, attempting to politicize the affray.
“This is not who we are as a party. It’s not who we are as a people,” Biden said.
But the unexpected disturbance clearly threw Biden off guard as he took time to regain composure.
The rally was meant to be a show of unity as polls suggest Biden is on the brink of more electoral success.
Biden was introduced by both Sens. Cory Booker of New Jersey and Kamala Harris of California, who both endorsed him his week despite previously criticizing his stance on racial issues and his mental state.
“And Michigan, I’m counting on you in a big way,” Biden said.
Biden closed his speech by declaring his ability to fight and to heal, as well as being a “bridge” to a generation of future leaders, pointing to Booker and Harris.
“The days of Donald Trump’s divisiveness are soon going to be over,” Biden said.

Biden has been fumbling his way through rallies over the past few weeks, and at one point, he declared, “we cannot win this re-election,” raising serious questions about his mental stability.
Biden told the crowd of his supporters [emphasis added]:
“You want a nominee that will bring this party together, who will run a progressive, positive campaign, and turn this primary from a campaign that’s about negative attacks into one about what we’re for.”
“Because we cannot re-elect, we cannot win this re-election, excuse me, we can only re-elect Donald Trump if, in fact, we get engaged in this circular firing squad here.”
Last week, President Donald Trump suggested Biden’s mind was so far gone he didn’t even know what he was criticizing following a recent attack on the Trump administration.
“Well, look, I don’t want to be too critical,” Trump said.
“I just – you know, I’ve never seen anything like it, to be honest. And I’m sure that the Democrats are saying the same thing. But they’d rather have him than Bernie.”
“I’m not sure he knows what he’s criticizing, to be honest with you. But I watched him the other day try.”
