‘It’s a pretty bitter pill for Trump, but it’s a fact he lost’
Former Republican Senator Bob Dole has urged President Donald Trump to accept the 2020 presidential election and admit defeat to Joe Biden.
The 97-year-old former presidential candidate told The Kansas City Star:
“The election is over and Biden will be president on January 20.”
“I know the president has not conceded and he may never concede, but he will not be in the White House on January 21.”
“It’s a pretty bitter pill for Trump, but it’s a fact he lost,” Dole added.
“It’ll take him a while to accept that,” Dole said, who lost to former President Bill Clinton over two decades ago.
Dole then went on to compliment Biden:
“He’s a friend of mine and he was a good chairman of the Judiciary Committee in the Senate.”
“He did a good job,” Dole declared.
“Proud to be a liberal — hopefully not too liberal — but he knows how the government works and the Congress works and all this will be a benefit to Joe.”
The former Senator expressed hope for GOP to maintain a majority in the Senate.
“Right now it’s over and Biden will be president,” Dole stated.
“And we all hope he’ll do a good job and not be too liberal,” he added.
“He’s got a lot of liberal ideas. We’ll see if we can keep the Senate,” Dole said.
Trump is yet to concede the election as lawsuits continue into alleged fraud and irregularities across the US.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell faced a backlash from Trump allies earlier this week after congratulating Joe Biden and recognizing him as “President-elect Joe Biden.”
McConnell said he wanted to “congratulate the President-elect Joe Biden” and “Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.”
Trump himself responded to the news saying people are “angry.”
“Mitch, 75,000,000 VOTES, a record for a sitting President (by a lot). Too soon to give up. Republican Party must finally learn to fight. People are angry!”

Trump campaign attorney Lin Wood blasted McConnell a ‘traitor’ and vowing:
“His day of judgment is coming.”
“McConnell is NOT a Patriot. Ask his wife. She knows,” wrote Wood.
“McConnell just wants power, influence, & money. He is willing to sell America to get what he wants. McConnell is a traitor to American Patriots,” Wood continued.

Meanwhile, Senator Mitt Romney said there was no evidence to support Trump’s claims of election fraud.
“He’s claiming fraud, senator, and there’s no evidence of it.”
“Bill Barr didn’t go along with it, and now he’s out.”
