Clinton Presidential Center Forced to Close Following Government Shutdown

The Centre, along with others, may be closed until 2019

Following the partial Government shut down after lawmakers failed to cut a budget impasse on Sunday, the Clinton Presidential Center announced it would cease operations throughout the duration.

The center announced that its temporary and permanent exhibits in the Clinton Presidential Library and Museum in Little Rock, Arkansas, will be closed.

According to a pop-up notification on the museum and library website said that “National Archives facilities are closed,” and the website will not be updated throughout the shutdown.

The George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum in College Station also announced closure due to to the shutdown.

But some presidential libraries will stay partially or fully open.

The George W. Bush Presidential Library in Dallas will stay open but without its archival services.

The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum in Simi Valley, California, will remain open according to its website.

Nine out of 15 Cabinet-level departments, including the Department of Interior, are affected by the shutdown.

Even though the Senate is assumed to reconvene on Thursday to allocate legislation to finance these parts of the federal government, the shut down could continue until 2019.

President Donald Trump, who has to sign off any deal, insists there must be at least $5bn (£4bn) included in funding for the border wall. Lawmakers adjourned last-minute talks late Friday.

With no sign of an agreement, funding for about a 25 percent of all US federal agencies passed at midnight.

The departments of Transportation, Agriculture, State, Justice, and Homeland Security, will start to shut down before Christmas.
