CNN Asks Bernie If Democrats Are ‘Staging Coup Against’ Him, He Refuses To Answer

Socialist presidential candidate put on spot during interview

Socialist presidential candidate Bernie Sanders was asked during an interview on CNN whether the nomination was being taken away from him by the Democratic Party.

CNN’s Anderson Cooper said to Sanders:

“President Trump questioned last night the timing of Buttigieg’s withdrawal, tweeting in part, ‘this is the real beginning of the Dems taking Bernie out of play, no nomination again.”

“He also tweeted again this afternoon, ‘they are staging a coup against’ you,” Cooper pointed out.

“Is he right?” Cooper asked.

Sanders replied but refused to answer the question, instead opting to attack President Donald Trump

“You know what, I really wish that the president of the United States, might kind of spend his time doing his job,” Sanders responded.

“Maybe, just maybe, he might wanna worry about the coronavirus, he might wanna worry about the stock market, he might worry about the 500,000 people in this country who are homeless, or the massive level of income and wealth inequality that exists.”

“So, President Trump, stay out of the Democratic primary,” Sanders continued.

“Why don’t you do your job for a change as president? Stop lying, stop running a corruption administration, pay attention to the American people, not just your own political aims.”

Trump has frequently accused Democrats of plotting to take the nomination away from Sanders again.

In January, he wrote:

They are taking the nomination away from Bernie for a second time. Rigged!”

“Mini Mike is a 5’4” mass of dead energy who does not want to be on the debate stage with these professional politicians,” Trump tweeted last month.

“No boxes, please. He hates Crazy Bernie and will, with enough money, possibly stop him. Bernie’s people will go nuts!”

“The Dems are working hard to take the prized nomination away from Bernie. Back room politics, which Bernie is not very good at,” Trump tweeted last week.

“His people will not let it happen again!”

Earlier this year, Trump alleged the delay of the impeachment process was designed to force Sanders to be bogged down in the Senate trial during the Iowa caucuses.

Last year, Sanders said the system was rigged while referring to his election loss to Hillary Clinton.

“No, some people say that if maybe that system was not rigged against me, I would have won the nomination and defeated Donald Trump,” Sanders said after being asked whether or not he hurt Clinton’s candidacy.

“That’s what some people say.”
