CNN Takes Nosedive: Smallest Audience for Mueller Testimony

Fox News had the largest audience, with CNN coming last in the six networks

Establishment news network CNN saw the smallest audience for the highly anticipated Robert Mueller testimony on Wednesday, according to reports.

Meanwhile, Fox News had the largest audience, with CNN coming last in the six networks that broadcasted it.

Mueller testified on his two-year-long investigation, concluding that neither President Donald Trump nor a member of his campaign conspired with Russia to win the 2016 election.

Fox News’s audience averaged 3.03 million viewers during Mueller’s testimony, Early Nielsen Media Research reported.

But no other network exceeded 3 million.

MSNBC saw 2.4 million viewers.

ABC saw 2.1 million viewers.

CNN came last, with only 1.5 million viewers, approximately half the audience of Fox News.

Earlier this month, CNN saw its ratings plummet even further in 2019 as one of its recent decisions has also brought its credibility into question.

While Fox News averaged 1.3 million viewers in the second quarter ratings for cable shows, CNN saw well below half of that with 541,000 total viewers.

The gap in primetime was even more pronounced, with Fox News as number one and CNN in 15th place, averaging 761,000 viewers to Fox’s 2.4 million.

According to Forbes, CNN’s second-quarter viewership average was 18 percent lower than in 2018.

Hill reporter, Joe Concha told Fox News:

“The numbers warrant concern, yes. Q2 was a particularly news-rich quarter highlighted by the release of the Mueller report and all the aftermath and controversy following it, plus the launch of several high-profile Democratic candidacies including Joe Biden and Pete Buttigieg to propel 2020 coverage into high gear,” Concha told Fox.

“It may only get worse in Q3 given the numbers we’re already seeing.”
