CNN’s Jake Tapper Praises Trump for ‘Exposing’ Republicans as ‘Un-American’

‘The hope that most Republicans in the House were better than this has been destroyed’

CNN host Jake Tapper has praised President Donald Trump, claiming his actions have “exposed” Republicans as “undemocratic” and “un-American.”

On Sunday, Tapper ended his “State of the Union” show by offering praise for President Trump.

He quickly turned the tables, however, using the president’s actions to attack the Republican Party.

Tapper told the audience at the conclusion of his show that he wanted “to praise Donald Trump, not to bury him.”

The CNN anchor then proceeded to list legitimate achievements of the Trump administration, including:

  • Operation Warp Speed
  • Renegotiating trade deals
  • Working to bring peace in the Middle East
  • Working to bring home American troops
  • “Expos[ing]” the “cozy” relationships between politicians and the media

That’s when Tapper focused on the events of the last week, specifically on a lawsuit brought by the state of Texas to overturn millions of votes cast in the 2020 election.

According to The Blaze, the Supreme Court ultimately decided to not hear the case, saying the lawsuit had a “lack of standing under Article III of the Constitution.”

Tapper used the development to bury the Republicans who supported it, including more than a dozen states and the majority of House Republicans.

According to Tapper, the president did Americans “a favor by exposing these elected officials.”

“They are definitionally people who signed on to a desperate desire to subvert the will of the American people, to disenfranchise voters in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan based on lies and conspiracy theories, putting an immoral and corrupt power grab above democracy,” Tapper said.

“President Trump made House Republicans go on the record,” Tapper continued.

“He made them stand and be counted and 126 of them, including Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy and Republican Whip Steve Scalise, they actually signed their names to this, this unconservative, undemocratic, un-American mendacious joke of a lawsuit that would disenfranchise millions of their fellow Americans.”

“These House Republicans raised their hands.

“They said, ‘Sign me up.’

“The hope that most Republicans in the House were better than this, that has been destroyed,” Tapper went on to say.

“For those of us who believe in standards and norms and the U.S. Constitution, we need to thank President Trump for bringing this fact to light.”
