Democrats Introduced ‘Impeachment Measure’ Very Day They Took Control of House

Top priority is removing President Donald Trump from office

Yesterday the Democrats took over the House, taking control of half the legislature after their political victories in the November election.

But their top priority above all seems to be removing Donald Trump from office.

As Nancy Pelosi re-gained her position as speaker of the House, the progressives made it clear on that their anti-Trump agenda would be set in motion.

One of Pelosi’s colleagues has even formally introduced legislation to impeach Trump.

“Rep. Brad Sherman is reintroducing the impeachment articles that he first filed in 2017 with Democratic co-sponsor Rep. Al Green of Texas,” reported Fox News.

“He will be introducing the same articles he introduced last year once the House is in session this afternoon,” a spokesman for the California Democrat told Fox.

According to Western Journal: It may be the same impeachment strategy, but 2019 is a whole new ballgame.

The big difference, of course, is that now Democrats hold a majority in the House, which greatly increases the chances of impeachment proceedings moving forward.

While some liberals like Sherman are chomping at the bit to take on Trump, other more experienced Democrats are urging a cautious approach.

“We have to wait and see what happens with the Mueller report,” cautioned Rep. Nancy Pelosi during a Thursday appearance on NBC News.

“We shouldn’t be impeaching for a political reason, and we shouldn’t avoid impeachment for a political reason,” she elaborated. “We have to see.”

Stop the presses and mark your calendar, because this next sentence only appears once a millennium: Pelosi just showed a hint of wisdom.

The incoming speaker is actually right in pointing out that impeachment proceedings should only occur if there are specific, clear abuses of power from the president, and not for petty political reasons.

That’s a very different tune than other lawmakers like fellow Californian Brad Sherman are singing.

His re-used 2017 impeachment resolution declared that Trump was guilty of “high crimes and misdemeanors,” which apparently means actually enforcing the nation’s border laws.

Trump must be impeached after “ordering the cruel and unconstitutional imprisonment of children and their families at the southern border,” Sherman’s bill declared.

It was unclear if the Democrat thought Barack Obama should have been impeached for using almost identical tactics during his tenure.

Of course, it’s worth pointing out that even if a majority of the House were able to advance impeachment proceedings, it would almost certainly stall in the Republican-controlled Senate unless grave new evidence emerges.

It isn’t really surprising that Democrats couldn’t even wait a single day before trying to impeach the president, but it is disappointing.

Despite the doom and gloom, the reality is that the last two years have actually been pretty good for Americans — and there are far more important issues than petty squabbles with Trump.

Illegal immigrants are pouring over the border. Europe is dealing with both radical Islamic terrorism and unrest.

A student loan crisis is brewing, while the national debt continues to skyrocket. Syria is a mess.

China continues to rise and stretch its muscles.

Donald Trump did not create any of these problems, and like him or not, has at least tried to address many of them.

The president may be frequently frustrating, but this isn’t illegal.

If Democrats care about the country, they should focus on finding solutions, not muddying the water with a fixation on the Oval Office.
