Ilhan Omar: Americans are Racist, Treat Migrant Children ‘Worse Than a Dog’

Says people in America do not ‘value the life of a child who might not look like theirs’

Radical Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) has caused outrage yet again after claiming that Americans treat migrant children “worse than a dog” because they are racist.

The freshman lawmaker claims that people in America don’t “value the life of a child who might not look like theirs.”

Omar made the controversial comments while speaking at the Netroots Nation conference on Saturday.

While sitting on a panel at the same event, Democratic Congresswoman Omar also declared that she is “ashamed to continue to live” in the United States “because of its hypocrisy.”

The lawmaker then added that “as an immigrant,” she probably loves America “more than anyone that is naturally born.”

While speaking at the conference in Philadelphia, Omar alleged the Trump Administration, other members of Congress, and Americans in general, exhibit racist behaviors because they do not understand why migrants are coming to the U.S.

“These people are faced with cruel decisions, inhumane decisions, on what they should do to make their children’s lives better, and what they should do to make their own lives better,” Omar said.

“And instead of us saying here is ‘A,’ ‘B,’ and ‘C,’ we’re saying there is zero option,” she added.

“And if you ever think that you have a chance, we’re going to treat you worse than a dog.

“One of our members said to me, if there were dogs in those cages, every single member of Congress would vote to make sure that all of these cages didn’t exist anymore.”

“So we live in a society and govern in a body that might value the life of a dog more than they value the life of a child who might not look like theirs,” Omar claimed.

Omar’s remarks come amid a national debate about what to do in response to ongoing border crisis and overcrowding at migrant detention centers.

Immigration authorities and border officials are reporting that the flood of migrants has depleted their resources, which is now exacerbating existing problems as a result.

Also at Saturday’s Netroots Nation event, Omar claimed that she probably loves America “more than anyone that is naturally born” in response to criticisms that she is anti-American.

“There is something I get criticized for all the time,” she said while speaking on a panel about foreign policy.

“It is that I am anti-American because I criticize the United States,” Omar said.

“I believe, as an immigrant, I probably love this country more than anyone that is naturally born.”

The Minnesota congresswoman said the U.S. exports “American exceptionalism,” but it does not live those values domestically.

“So, that hypocrisy is one that I’m bothered by,” she said.

“I want America the great to be America the great.”

Omar and her family fled civil war in Somalia for a Kenyan refugee camp and then arrived in the U.S. at age 12.

She has said America did not meet her expectations because of discrimination and racism.
