Far-left congresswoman announces marriage to Tim Mynett despite previously denying affair
After months of denying their affair, far-left Democracy Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) has just announced that she has married the Democratic political consultant that her campaign funneled large sums of cash to.
Omar’s marriage to Tim Mynett took place earlier this week, according to reports.
The radical lawmaker announced the wedding in an Instagram post, accompanied by a photo of the couple in a romantic pose.
Omar and Mynett, both of whom divorced their previous spouses late last year, have kept their relationship a secret and married at an undisclosed location.
The pair vehemently denied having an affair after Rep. Omar was reportedly caught funneling over $500,000 of campaign funds to Mynett – the man she was allegedly having an affair with at the time, according to his wife’s divorce filings.
In divorce documents filed in August, Dr. Beth Jordan Mynett said her husband had an extra-marital affair with “Squad“ member Omar, citing the relationship as one of the reasons for separation.
Since 2018, Tim Mynett’s E. Street group has received large sums of money for fundraising consulting, digital communications, Internet advertising, and travel expenses, records show.
Rumors of the 37-year-old congresswoman’s affair with prominent Washington political consultant Mynett emerged when the pair was spotted back in March last year at a California restaurant.
The affair was later confirmed by Mynett’s wife in her divorce filings.
Beth Mynett claims her husband made a “devastating and shocking” revelation that he was having an affair with Omar.
The affair was reportedly exposed after Omar’s husband, Ahmed Hirsi, flew to Washington, D.C. to pay her a surprise visit — only to find her lounging around in her apartment with Mynett, both of them wearing only pajamas.
According to News Thud, news of a rumored romance between the Trump-hating Democrat and 38-year-old Mynett emerged last August when his ex-wife, Dr. Beth Mynett, 55, filed for divorce.
FOX 9 obtained court documents in which Mynett’s former spouse said his travel and extensive work hours were “more related to his affair with Omar than to his actual work commitments.”
Omar’s new marital squeeze blasted his ex-wife’s claims in court, saying it was an effort to ruin his reputation, according to documents cited by the New York Post.
“Since the time of Mr. Mynett’s departure from the marital home, Ms. Mynett began a negative campaign against Mr. Mynett,” court records stated.
“The parties physically separated on or about April 7, 2019, when Defendant told Plaintiff that he was romantically involved with and in love with another woman, Ilhan Omar,” the court papers said.
But Mynett said his wife’s explosive claims about an affair was “an effort to ruin his career and permanently damage his relationship with William and his step-daughter.”
“Mr. Mynett denies that he told Ms. Mynett he was leaving the marriage for Representative Ilhan Omar or that he was in love with her,” the documents stated.
She announced the wedding in an Instagram post on Wednesday night.
“From partners in politics to life partners. So blessed,” the Minnesota lawmaker wrote on her Instagram account under the black and white photograph.
The couple is wearing the same rings that they were pictured wearing in Washington, D.C. last week.
Both Omar, 37 and Mynett — whose company received more than $500k last year from her campaign — initially denied they were having an affair.
But sources in the Somali community in Minneapolis say she was forced into announcing the nuptials because of articles on the Daily Mail.
“She sent this picture to a friend saying she wanted to announce her wedding because the reporting of the Daily Mail had been so accurate,” said one Somali leader.
The Minneapolis Star-Tribune said the couple had married “in the Islamic faith.”
Omar has had a complicated marriage history, including allegations that she married her own brother.
She married her first husband, Ahmed Hirsi in 2002 in an Islamic ceremony that — like many in the Somali community was not registered with state authorities — and had two children with him.
But in 2009 she married British citizen Ahmed Elmi – believed to be her biological brother – in a civil ceremony in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.
She said she had an Islamic divorce from Hirsi before that ceremony.
Her marriage to Elmi allowed him to get student loans to attend North Dakota State University — an issue that is now reportedly being probed by the FBI.
She and Elmi — who now lives in east Africa — split in 2011, but did not divorce until 2017, the year before she again married Hirsi, with whom she had already had a third child.
Last month, Omar responded to reports confirming she married her biological brother to “get him papers,” arguing that the reports are “fake news,” “anti-Muslim smears,” and “hate speech.”
Omar, who represents a district based in Minneapolis, has long denied an affair with Mynett.
