David Faustino Flores charged with the murder of 76-year-old kiddie-train operator
An inmate who allegedly beat his pedophile cellmate to death earlier this month said “God and his mother” told him to do it, according to reports.
David Faustino Flores, 42, was charged with the murder of 76-year-old kiddie-train operator Clinton Don Simpson, who Flores also claimed was “Bin Laden,” authorities said.
Flores bashed Simpson’s head with multiple blows against the concrete cell floor, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
“My mom said, ‘That’s Bin Laden, so you ought to go get him.’ So I went to wale on him … And God said, ‘Go ahead,’” he said.
Flores’ mother is deceased, according to the paper.
Flores claimed he heard voices inside his head and demanded his cell due to suffering from schizophrenia, the paper reported.
“At that time I was already paranoid everyone wants to kill me,” he said.
“I thought this whole place was ISIS.”
Flores was kept in solitary confinement following an assault in October, but later was put on suicide watch after attempting to kill himself, the Star-Telegram reported.
He was then placed in a cell with Simpson.
Simpsons was struck on the head at least 73 times, according to a police affidavit detailing the brutal attack on the 76-year-old, who was wheelchair bound at the time.
“I just kept hitting him,” Flores said, before claiming he didn’t know what he was accused of.
Flores was oblivious to Simpson’s death until reporters asked him about him, at which point he grew solemn and stared at a space on the ground.
“I didn’t mean to do it,” he said.
“I shouldn’t have done it.”
Simpson was facing charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child and continuous child abuse.
