Joe Biden Admits Push to Radical Left Has ‘Beat the Hell’ Out of 2020 Democrats

Former vice president says Democratic Party got ‘too far ahead of ourselves’

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has admitted that his party’s push toward radical left policies has “beat the hell out of” the Democrats in the 2020 cycle.

During a meeting this week, former Vice President Biden told civil rights leaders that Democrats’ embrace of the “Defund the police” movement and facilitation of violent Black Lives Matter and Antifa riots in the runup to the election has had a hugely negative impact on the party.

In Tuesday’s virtual meeting, Biden warned them about getting “too far ahead of ourselves” by pursuing his campaign’s promise on reforming the police.

He urged attendees to lay off the leftist calls ahead of the Senate runoff elections in Georgia on January 5 that will decide which party will hold a majority in the chamber.

“They’ve already labeled us as being ‘Defund the police’,” Biden said, according to excerpts obtained by The Intercept

“Anything we put forward in terms of the organizational structure to change policing — which I promise you, will occur. Promise you.”

“That’s how they beat the living hell out of us across the country, saying that we’re talking about defunding the police. We’re not,” Biden said.

“We’re talking about holding them accountable,” he continued.

“We’re talking about giving them money to do the right things.

“We’re talking about putting more psychologists and psychiatrists on the telephones when the 911 calls through.

“We’re talking about spending money to enable them to do their jobs better, not with more force, with less force and more understanding.”

A number of Democrats, including Rep. Jim Clyburn of South Carolina and former President Barack Obama, have pinned the blame for the party’s poor down-ballot showing on the movement that gained momentum after the killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police officers in May.

The movement, launched by Black Lives Matter, drew support from a number of progressives like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).

Earlier this week in Minneapolis, the Democrat-run City Council slashed a staggering $8 million from its police department’s funding, despite a major violent crime surge in the Minnesota city.

Leftist council members have been pushing to defund the police in Minneapolis since the death of George Floyd earlier this year, who died while in the custody of the MPD.

On Thursday morning, the city council passed a budget that will cut millions from its police funding and, instead, spend the taxpayer money on mental health and violence prevention programs.

The Marxist-style plan for defunding the police has been called “Safety for All.”
