Biden likened Trump Democratic Party governor of Alabama George Wallace
Former Vice President Joe Biden has likened President Donald Trump to segregationist and previous Democratic Party governor of Alabama George Wallace.
Biden said, “No president has ever led by fear. Not Lincoln. Not Roosevelt. Not Kennedy. Not Reagan. This president is more like George Wallace than George Washington.”
He added:
“Democrats have to choose hope over fear, unity over division. We have to choose our allies over our enemies. We have to choose truth over lies. We have to choose a brighter future for Americans over this desperate grip of the darkest elements of our past in our society.”
Last month, Neon Nettle reported Biden attacked Trump during a speech in which he claimed the way that the president responded didn’t represent the sentiment of the American people.
Speaking at an event for the Penn Biden Leaders Dialogue at the University of Pennsylvania, Biden suggested the Trump Administration’s response to McCain’s death will have longlasting effects on the country’s political discourse.
During his speech at the University of Pennsylvania, Biden said:
“I think you’re going to see a significant change in the politics of the country, and I think a lot of it had to do with the way in which the administration has treated people.
“I think the nail that maybe has put in the coffin this time was the way in which the administration responded to John McCain’s death and the way it came across as being so nakedly… almost un-American.
“It wasn’t —it’s not who we are.”
