Man Killed During ICE Center Attack Was ‘Antifa Militant’ Celebrated By CNN

Attacker appeared on CNN’s ‘United Shades of America’ with W. Kamau Bell

The armed man who was shot and killed by police last weekend, after attempting to attack an ICE detention center with flammable devices, was a self-proclaimed Antifa militant that appeared on a recent CNN program.

Critics say Willem Van Spronsen, 69, was glorified by CNN before the attack took place.

Spronsen sent a manifesto to friends the day before he launched his attack, in which he declared: “I am Antifa.”

Now he is lionized by members of the left-wing group as a “martyr.”

In May, he appeared to be part of an episode of CNN’s “United Shades of America” with W. Kamau Bell.

The biased CNN show featured Bell explaining the “Redneck Revolt,” in which he branded as gun-toting liberals who defend the Second Amendment and attack neo-Nazis and the “alt-right.”

But Bell referred to them as “good guys,” going to a gun range with members, and even asked why “more white people” don’t share their viewpoints.

One of the men featured in the CNN’s program appeared to be Van Spronsen.

Van Spronsen was armed with a rifle and incendiary devices when he launched his assault on the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma on Saturday.

Van Spronsen was caught throwing ‘incendiary devices’ and setting vehicles on fire and reportedly trying to ignite a propane tank before the officers confronted him.

The man was shot by police following the confrontation.

CNN failed to respond to a request for comment and to confirm that Van Spronsen was featured on the network.

Bell noted that “Redneck Revolt” “protects counter-protesters, and provides gun safety courses.

The host also organized an on-camera meeting between the “Redneck Revolt” and Black Lives Matter in which Van Spronsen appeared to be one of the attendees.

Throughout the meeting, the CNN host laughed and nodded his head in agreement.

“CNN has done more to give the psycho domestic terrorists of Antifa credibility than any other outlet,” Media Research Center vice president Dan Gainor told Fox News.

“Now Antifa has escalated from attacking people in the street to sending a journalist to the hospital with a brain hemorrhage to, finally, a deadly act of domestic terrorism.”

It was a journalist Andy Ngo, a recent victim of Antifa’s violence, who first noticed that Van Spronsen appeared to be glorified by CNN.

“CNN recently aired a documentary about the Antifa militia whose member was killed in an ICE firebombing attack yesterday. You can see Mr van Sprossen at the 4-second time stamp in this trailer,” Ngo wrote.

CNN’s “United Shades of America” episode that seemingly featured Van Spronsen, also apparently promoted Antifa and Bell and even had a member how off tie-dyed brass knuckles, a knife and facemask during what the CNN host called “show and tell.”

Twitter users noted that Bell even urged his followers to “support” the “good work they are doing to end white supremacy.”

The shooting occurred following a protest in front of the detention center on planned mass deportation raids around the country.

The Tacoma facility holds migrants pending deportation proceedings.

The detention center has also held immigration-seeking parents separated from their children as part of Donald Trump’s “zero tolerance” policy.
