McCabe: Rosenstein Held Meetings on Removing Trump, Wearing Wire in Oval Office

Former FBI director’s book admits to meetings on removing President with 25th Amendment

Former FBI Director Andrew McCabe has claimed in his new book the Department of Justice discussed whether President Donald Trump should be removed with the 5th Amendment following the firing of FBI Director James Comey.

“There were meetings at the Justice Department at which it was discussed whether the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet could be brought together to remove the president of the United States under the 25th Amendment,” CBS News’ Scott Pelley said Thursday excerpt from the coming McCabe interview.

Pelley noted that meetings were part of an unusual 8-day period following Comey’s firing in which Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein also suggested that he should wear a wire to record encounters with Trump.

The New York Times reported Rosenstein’s discussion of wearing a wire and talk of the 25th Amendment in 2018.

According to the Daily Caller: The 25th Amendment allows for the removal of the president of the United States if a majority of his Senate-confirmed cabinet think he is no longer able of discharging his duties while in office.

Rosenstein reportedly considered that he could convince at least two cabinet officials to sign on to a proposal to oust Trump from office.

The deputy attorney general played a key role in authoring a memo justifying Comey’s firing, which faulted the former FBI director for his conduct during the investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s abuse of classified emails.

Rosenstein disputed TheNYT account of the meeting in September saying, “I will not further comment on a story based on anonymous sources who are obviously biased against the department and are advancing their own personal agenda.”

“But let me be clear about this,” he continued.

“Based on my personal dealings with the president, there is no basis to invoke the 25th Amendment.”

Last year, we reported Rosenstein ordered the Michael Cohen case to be transferred to New York so he could protect the witch hunt against the Trump incase the Mueller investigation was shut down.

Earlier this year, Rosenstein gave the order to turn over the Cohen case to attorneys in the Southern District of New York.

With a priority to keep the anti-Trump witch hunt momentum in full swing, Deputy AG Rosenstein ordered Trump-appointed US attorney Geoffrey Berman to recuse himself from Cohen case, paving the way for Democrat remnants of anti-Trump Preet Bharara pursue the litigation.

Following CBS’s excerpts on an upcoming “60 Minutes” interview with McCabe on his book, Trump’s responded.

“Disgraced FBI Acting Director Andrew McCabe pretends to be a ‘poor little Angel’ when in fact he was a big part of the Crooked Hillary Scandal & the Russia Hoax –a puppet for Leakin’ James Comey. I.G. report on McCabe was devastating,” Trump said, referring to the Justice Department’s inspector general report.

“Part of the ‘insurance policy’ in case I won…Many of the top FBI were fired, forced to leave, or left,” Trump continued.
