Merkel Seen Uncontrollably Shaking a 2nd Time, Doctors Say It’s Not Dehydration

Fears grows for German Chancellor’s health as she meets President Frank-Walter Steinmeier

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has been caught uncontrollably shaking for the second time in just a month amid growing concerns for her health.

Earlier this month, Merkel was caught uncontrollably shaking at an official ceremony welcoming Ukraine’s new president Volodymyr Zelensky, which she later laughed off as ‘dehydration.’

The new footage shows, Merkel, 64, trembling while she met President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, but her spokesman insisted she was ‘fine.’

According to the NHS, ‘shivering’ is not listed as a known symptom of dehydration.

Dr. Paul Jarman, a consultant neurologist at University College London Hospitals, told the Daily Mail  said it not ‘due to dehydration.’

The video shows Merkel seemingly trying to hide her juddering by folding her arms.

More detailed footage shows she having difficulty in trying to keep her shaking under control.

When an aid rushes to offer her a glass of water, she declines.

Some medics have speculated that the German Chancellor could have over-active thyroid or low blood sugar.

But the majority of doctors have concluded that the shaking isn’t down to dehydration or Parkinson’s disease.

German newspaper Bild says Merkel is always accompanied by a doctor and a paramedic from the Ministry of Health’s health service.

Earlier this month, Merkel was pressed on her health by a reporter.

‘Since then, I’ve drunk at least three glasses of water, which I apparently needed, and now I’m doing very well,’ she said.

Merkel, who turns 65 next month, said she was fine when asked if her shaking was a cause for concern.

Zelensky made light of Merkel’s uneasy spell, saying he would have come to her rescue if necessary.

The 41-year-old said:

‘She was standing next to me and completely safe.’
