NY Times: Conservatives ‘Pounced’ on Vatican Abuse Scandal for Political Gain

Hit piece titled ‘Vatican Power Struggle Bursts Into Open as Conservatives Pounce’

An article published in the The New York Times has accused conservatives of using the Vatican child sex abuse scandal to advance their own political agenda.

The hit piece titled “Vatican Power Struggle Bursts Into Open as Conservatives Pounce” attempted to frame conservatives of only seeing the Vatican pedophile scandal as just an “opportunity.”

The article failed to note that that boundary between left and right should not even exist when it comes to something as serious as child abuse and pedophilia, thus creating a paradox that they themselves see it as a political tool, not the right.

The most recent flare-up was that of Carlo Maria Viganò who accused the Pontiff of having “known all about” abuse allegations of former Cardinal Theodore McCarrick.

TheDaiyCaller reports: According to the article, conservatives are using the letter and the scandal to push for a stronger condemnation of homosexuality from the Catholic Church.

The article said, “An ideologically motivated opposition has weaponized the church’s sex abuse crisis to threaten not only Francis’ agenda but his entire papacy.”

It went on to say, “At the Conference of Catholic Families, a rival, conservative event to the Vatican’s World Meeting of Families in Dublin this past weekend, organizers found the pope’s recent condemnation of abuse unsatisfactory because he did not call out homosexuality. That, they say, has turned seminaries into ‘cesspits.’”

In recent months, critics have been quick to claim “conservatives pounce” on a number of occasions — they “pounced” with regard to fact-checking rising Democratic Socialist star Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez:

Regardless of what the left says, there is still a massive child abuse cover-up in the Vatican

The Vatican was fully aware of the massive cover-up of child abuse and pedophilia in the state’s dioceses since the Bishops shared their secret archives with Rome, according to a Pennsylvania attorney general.

As the Pennsylvania church scandal widens, even more, state Attorney General Josh Shapiro told CBS’ This Morning show that Bishops actively kept the public and the police in the dark about child abuse by pedophile priests, all the while documenting the cases and handing over damning evidence to the Vatican.

The 900-plus-page report was made public earlier this month and reveals allegations of child molestation and other sexual abuse and how the Vatican actively covered it up.”

There are specific examples where when the abuse occurred, the priests would go, the bishops would go and lie to parishioners, lie to law enforcement, lie to the public, but then document all the abuse in secret archives that they would share oftentimes with the Vatican,” Shapiro said.
