NY Times Under Fire For Blaming Antisemitism in Europe on Trump, Netanyahu

Left-leaning news outlet attacks Trump and Israeli Prime Minister

The New York Times faced a backlash after it published an editorial on the rise of antisemitism in Europe, suggesting that President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu were to blame for the issue.

The article, entitled, “The Old Scourge of Anti-Semitism Rises Anew in Europe,” responded to the “alarming reality that anti-Semitism is sharply on the rise, often from the sadly familiar direction of the far right, but also from Islamists and the far left.”

But it wasn’t just Trump and Netanyahu they attacked; they also noted the contribution of left-wing politicians including UK Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn.

The editorial also claimed:

“Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has not helped matters by finding common cause with nationalist leaders like the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban or President Trump so long as they do not support a Palestinian state.”

It also seems to suggest that Orban and Trump are antisemites or that nationalism is generally antisemitic.

According to Breitbart: Dr. Michael Oren, the former Israeli ambassador to the U.S. during President Barack Obama’s tenure, was furious, noting on Twitter that the Times had omitted left-wing American politicians such as Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), who has actually used antisemitic rhetoric repeatedly.

He also referred to the Times‘ recent publication of an antisemitic cartoon in its international edition.

Just one month ago, the Times published a widely-denounced cartoon depicting Netanyahu as a dog with a Star of David collar, leading a yarmulke-clad President Trump.

Ironically, the editorial concluded: “Speak up, now, when you glimpse evidence of anti-Semitism, particularly within your own ranks, or risk enabling the spread of this deadly virus.”

Last week, Trump blasted the New York Times for leaking his tax info, declaring the move “fake news” hit job.

Trump responded to the NYT publishing his decades-old tax information, saying that, at the time, all business owners used the same strategy as him to avoid paying high taxes.

The newspaper obtained ten years of information on Trump’s taxes between 1985 and 1994 which it leaked in a report early on Wednesday.

The Times alleges that Donald Trump’s core business.
