Ex WH strategist discusses Trump’s path to victory
Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon has outlined what he believes the route Donald Trump should take before running for president.
Bannon discussed the scenario during an episode of his War Room podcast while torched by Joe Biden for his handling of the Afghanistan withdrawal.
After Bannon said “people should be court-martialed” over U.S. forces abandoning Bagram Airfield, he said this issue could be “one of the big charges eventually brought” against Biden.
“This thing is going to be huge,” Bannon said.
“That’s why I say, hey, Donald Trump should be elected the speaker of the House after [Republicans] have the sweeping victory in November ’22, at least for 100 days, take the gavel from [House Speaker] Nancy Pelosi, gavel him in, start the impeachment process.”
“In 100 days, punch out and go run for president of the United States in 2024.“
Though the speaker of the House isn’t required ot be elected House member, every peaker thus far has been an elected member.
Trump said it was “highly unlikely” he would run for a House or Senate seat in 2022 but said the idea of replacing Pelosi was “interesting.”
To date, Trump has not officially said whether he will run again for president in 2024.
In June, Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said s Trump wanted to be speaker, but later r clarified that he meant Trump wants McCarthy to become speaker.
Bannon, who served as Trump’s 2016 campaign and in the White House for much of 2017, is still a vocal supporter of Trump,
During Trump’s final hours of his presidency, he issued Bannon a pardon as he faced criminal charges in an alleged “We Build the Wall” scheme.
Trump was impeached twice by a Democratic-controlled House, one for Ukraine and another to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, but bother were acquitted.
Last month, Trump said campaign finance laws are what is standing in the way of him creating a presidential campaign.
“I can’t really because of campaign finance rules, regulations, very complicated, very stuff, and frankly very antiquated if you want to know the truth,” Trump said.
“It’s ridiculous,” he said, Breitbart reported.
“I will be talking about it, and I think that people will be very happy,” Trump said.
