Trump Blasts Media and ‘Dirty Cops’ FBI Over ‘Insulting’ Russia Claims

President directly address accusations: ‘I have never worked for Russia’

President Donald Trump directly addressed claims by the media that he colluded with Russian agents, telling the press on Monday: “I have never worked for Russia.”

The president blasted the “insulting” claims made against him while speaking from the South Lawn before departing the White House for New Orleans.

In response to a New York Times report, that law enforcement officials began investigating, in 2017, whether Trump had been working on behalf of Russia against U.S. interests, Trump slammed former FBI and Justice Department officials, calling them “known scoundrels” and “dirty cops.”

Following criticisms that Trump didn’t directly answer the question in a Saturday Fox News interview by Judge Jeanine Pirro, the president told reporters: “I never worked for Russia.”

During the Fox News interview last week, Trump told Pirro:

“I think it’s the most insulting thing I’ve ever been asked.”

“I think it’s the most insulting article I’ve ever had written, and if you read the article you’ll see that they found absolutely nothing.”

Trump also noted that no other president has taken a harder stance against Russia than he has.

“If you ask the folks in Russia, I’ve been tougher on Russia than anybody else, any other … probably any other president, period, but certainly the last three or four presidents,” he said.

According to AP, White House aides expressed regret over the weekend that the president did not more clearly and forcefully deny being a Russian agent when asked by the usually friendly Fox News host, according to three White House aides and Republicans close to the White House.

The three spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss private conversations.

Trump Monday defended his decision to fire FBI Director James Comey, a move that has drawn the scrutiny of special counsel Robert Mueller.

Trump called the Russia probe “a whole big fat hoax.”

Speaking during the interview Pirro, Trump also slammed Joe Biden as a “one-percenter” who was “taken off the trash heap by Obama,” describing the ex-VP as “weak” as reports began to emerge that the former Vice President is planning to challenge him in the 2020 election.

Trump called in to Pirro’s show on Saturday night and dismissed Biden’s chances of unseating him in the next election.

“You know, a lot of people say Biden’s doing okay, but he was always a 1-percenter,” President Trump told Pirro.

“He ran two or three times, he never got above 1percent.

“And then Obama came along and took him off the trash heap, and he became a Vice President, and now he’s probably leading.

“But he’s basically a 1% guy. He’s weak.

“So we’ll see what happens with him.

“But I think he’s leading right now, from what I understand.”
