Trump Considers Appointing Sidney Powell a Special Counsel to Investigate Voter Fraud

President reportedly discussing move to boost lawyers investigations into election

President Donald Trump is reportedly in discussions about appointing lawyer Sidney Powell a special counsel to investigate election voter fraud, according to reports.

Powell has been a staple in the news following the election after filing numerous lawsuits alleging voter fraud in the presidential race.

According to a report in The New York Times, her investigations may be about to get a huge boost.

However, the Times also falsely reported that Powell has been disseminating “conspiracy theories about a Venezuelan plot to rig voting machines in the United States.”

Yet, Trump’s closest advisers have reportedly voiced opposition to such a move.

Among those opposed to the plan is the head of Trump’s legal team Rudy Giuliani, the report states.

From the Times:

Most of his advisers opposed the idea, two of the people briefed on the discussion said, including Rudolph W. Giuliani, the president’s personal lawyer, who in recent days sought to have the Department of Homeland Security join the campaign’s efforts to overturn Mr. Trump’s loss in the election.

Mr. Giuliani joined the discussion by phone, while Ms. Powell was at the White House for a meeting that became raucous at times, according to one of the people briefed on what took place.

Other administration officials drifted in and out of the meeting, two of the people briefed said, and the White House counsel, Pat A. Cipollone, pushed back on the ideas being proposed.

The report said it’s not clear how Trump will proceed, adding that Powell described some of Trump’s advisers as “quitters.”

The development is surprising given that Trump’s campaign distanced itself from Powell, releasing a statement in late November saying that Powell was, in fact, not a member of the campaign’s legal team despite having appeared at press conferences with the campaign’s leading attorneys.

“Sidney Powell is practicing law on her own,” the Trump campaign said.

“She is not a member of the Trump Legal Team.

“She is also not a lawyer for the President in his personal capacity.”

Meanwhile, a Michigan judge has released the bombshell report on the audit of Dominion Voting Systems earlier this week, revealing that the machines and their software were “designed” to “create systemic fraud.”

The report covers the forensic audit of Dominion’s machines in Michigan’s Antrim County — which received national attention after it was discovered that 6,000 votes for President Donald Trump were “flipped” to Democrat Joe Biden due to an “error.”

13th Circuit Court Judge Kevin Elsenheimer ordered the report’s protective order to be lifted on Monday night, allowing the details of the audit to be unsealed and released to the public.

“We conclude that the Dominion Voting System is intentionally and purposefully designed with inherent errors to create systemic fraud and influence election results,” Russell Ramsland Jr., co-founder of Allied Security Operations Group, said in a preliminary report.
