Trump: I’ll ‘Start Showing Migrant Detention Centers’ to Stop Media Complaining

President vows to open up facilities to press to quel media frenzy

President Donald Trump weighed in on the recent media frenzy over the migrant detention centers which many Democrats alleged are overcrowded with poor conditions.

Trump said the centers would be opened to visits by journalists to put an end to accusations.

“I’m going to start showing some of these detention centers to the press. I want the press to go in and see them,” Trump told reporters.

“We’re going to have some of the press go in because they’re crowded, and we’re the ones who were complaining about their crowding,” he added.

Current and former immigration officials criticized Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s accusations of cruel treatment at a Texas border facility, rejecting her claim that agents forced detainees to “drink out of the toilets” and slamming the celebrity lawmaker for “misinforming” the public.

Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., traveled to the border on Monday with almost a dozen members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.

The New York Times and The El Paso Times also published an article describing a Border Patrol station in Clint, Texas as filled with hundreds of children packed into disease-ridden cells.

Trump responded to the story as a “hoax.”

According to the article:

“The stench of the children’s dirty clothing was so strong it spread to the agents’ own clothing – people in town would scrunch their noses when they left work. The children cried constantly.”

“One girl seemed likely enough to try to kill herself that the agents made her sleep on a cot in front of them, so they could watch her as they were processing new arrivals.”

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) watchdog report also warned of “dangerous overcrowding” in multiple detention facilities, that hold migrants who are fleeing violence and poverty in their Central American homes.

Democratic lawmakers claimed that the detention facilities had massive crowding in cells with no running water.

Ocasio-Cortez continues to refer to the CBP facilities as “concentration camps” despite the massive backlash from Jewish leaders, Holocaust survivors, the U.S. Holocaust Museum, and Israel’s Yad Vashem.

Trump hit back at complaints on Twitter:

“If Illegal Immigrants are unhappy with the conditions in the quickly built or refitted detentions centers, just tell them not to come. All problems solved!”

Last month, Mexico deployed 15,000 troops to the US border to stop illegal immigrants from entering the United States as part of their recent agreement with Trump.

Mexican Secretary of Defense Luis Sandoval confirmed that Mexico is sending thousands of soldiers to the U.S.-Mexico border to help stop the flood of illegal immigration.

“Mexico has deployed almost 15,000 troops to the US-Mexico border to curve migration flow,” CNN’s Nick Valencia tweeted.

“An additional ~2,000 National Guard elements have also been deployed across the country’s southern border with Guatemala & Belize.: MX Secretary of Defense Luis Sandoval.”

The director of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services confirmed that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) are preparing to deport around one million illegal aliens from the US.

Ken Cuccinelli told CBS that illegal aliens with final orders for deportation would soon be deported by ICE, despite President Trump’s delay two weeks ago.
