Former Press secretary elated by Trump appearance
Donald Trump made an impromptu appearance at former White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders’ campaign event over the weekend.
Sanders wrote on social media:
“Great weekend on the campaign trail featuring a surprise appearance at one of my events by President Trump!”
Sanders was the Trump campaign’s press secretary from 2017 to 2019 and left the White House to return to her Arkansas home state.
Trump suggested Sanders would do “very well” if she ran for the governor of Arkansas in 2019.
“If we can get her to run for the governor of Arkansas, I think she’ll do very well,” he said.
“And I’m trying to get her to do that.”
Sanders did, in fact, take Trump’s advice and announced her run for Governor of Arkansas in January 2021.
Thank you President Trump for your endorsement and for always believing in me. As governor I will defend our freedom and lead with heart pic.twitter.com/QFtyuNpSm1

“I took on the media, the radical left, and their cancel culture, and I won,” she said, referring to her time as a press secretary for President Trump.
“As governor, I will be your voice and never let them silence you.”
Trump endorsed Sanders, effectively clearing the Republican primary field.
Sanders told a Christian Broadcasting Network that God “wanted Donald Trump to become President.”
“I think God calls all of us to fill different roles at different times, and I think that He wanted Donald Trump to become president,” Sanders told the Christian Broadcasting Network.
“That’s why he’s there, and I think he has done a tremendous job in supporting a lot of the things that people of faith really care about.”
