Trump Warns UK And EU They Face US Sanctions Unless They Stop Helping Iran

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo warns policy could put them on collision course

President Donald Trump‘s Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has warned both the UK and the European Union against helping Iran, according to reports.

Pompeo’s warning comes following Washington’s efforts to bring Tehran’s oil exports to zero.

But the UK and EU’s joint policy towards the country could be putting them on a collision course with the US, according to Pompeo.

He added that Washington wouldn’t hesitate to issue sanctions against British and European companies if they carried on doing business with Iran.

He said: “If the transaction is sanctionable there will be sanctions against those involved in that transaction.”

At the moment, the only trade allowed by the US now between Iran and the world is humanitarian supplies.

Special assistant to the US President and senior director for weapons of mass destruction, Tim Morrison, said warned that helping Iran is a “poor business decision.”

“If you are a bank, an investor, an insurer or other business in Europe, you should know that getting involved in the special purpose vehicle is a very poor business decision,” Morrison said.

The term “special purpose vehicle” means a protocol devised to help Iranian companies make some trade outside their country’s borders to avoid sanctions.

The term is described by the European Union External Action’s website as “a legal entity to facilitate legitimate financial transactions with Iran.”

Tehran, which is now recession, saw more sanction imposed by Washington yesterday.

The sanction will target revenue from Iran’s exports of industrial metals.

Trump stated that the new wave of sanctions was just the first step unless ran “fundamentally alters its conduct.”

The harsh move comes after President Hassan Rouhani declared he would not abide by some of the terms agreed on the Iran nuclear deal in 2015.

Jeremy Hunt called Iran’s decision to relax restrictions on its nuclear activities “unwelcome” and warned them about starting its nuclear enrichment programme again.

As we reported last week, Democrats Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib stood with Iran’s regime in support of Palestinian terrorists attacking Israel.

Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar and Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib, two of three Muslim members of Congress, expressed their support for the rocket attacks against Israel over the weekend.

Since Friday, the Palestinian terrorist groups Islamic Jihad and Hamas fired over 700 rockets into Israel during unprovoked terrors attacks.
