The Irish singer described Pope Francis as being ‘aghast’ about sex abuse
U2 frontman Bono has met with Pope Francis in private amid the growing scandals of sex abuse in the Catholic Church.
The Irish singer described Pope Francis as being aghast” about sex abuse in the Catholic Church after meeting him at the Vatican hotel.
Bono then told reporters, who asked him about the themes of discussion with the Pontiff, that they discussed “the wild beast that is capitalism” and sustainable development.
According to Breitbart: Bono said that because Francis visited Ireland recently, they spoke about the pontiff’s “feelings about what has happened in the church.”
The Irish church’s reputation is stained by cases of pedophile priests and systematic abuse cover-ups.
Bono said he told Francis how it looks to some that abusers are more protected than victims and “you can see the pain in his face, and I felt he was sincere.”

Pope Francis’ closest adviser, has spoken on the lack of response from the pontiff regarding allegations by a former Vatican ambassador that he seriously mishandled the case of serial sex abuser Cardinal Theodore McCarrick to say that answering the accusers only “feeds their megalomania.”
Archbishop of La Plata, Argentina, Víctor Manuel Fernández, who is also a close personal friend of the pope, said in an interview Monday that the pontiff’s strategy of silence regarding allegations against him is to do with him not feeding people’s craving for attention.
Pope Francis “always said that it is not advisable to defend himself from people who seek the limelight, because it would give them what they seek and feed their megalomania,” Fernandez declared.“I guess that criterion applies in this case.”
